Being a counselor at Kids Camp has to be one of the most rewarding opportunities of summer. Camp provides a great time to encourage kids to grow in their relationship with Christ and the relationships around them. If you're a camp counselor, thanks for stepping up. Here's a few things you should know:

What to Pack:

  • Casual clothes (4 days), modest shorts and shirts (clothes will get dirty and wet, so please pack play clothes, not your nice stuff. You'll also want to pack some warmer clothes for the evening)
  • Tennis shoes
  • Water shoes for the lake
  • Swimsuit (one-piece only, no tankinis or bikinis)
  • Light jacket
  • Hat or visor
  • Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, shampoo, 2 bath towels, soap and wash cloths)
  • Sunscreen
  • Hairbrush or comb
  • Laundry bag for dirty clothes
  • Disposable camera with name on it (optional)
  • Bible
  • Flashlight
  • Alarm Clock
  • Watch (waterproof)
  • Backpack
  • Some money
  • Sleeping bag
  • Pillow

What not to bring:

  • No electronic games
  • No radios, CDs, mp3, or tape players
  • No comics or magazines
  • No clothing with vulgar or suggestive slogans
  • No prank or gag materials or water guns
  • No firearms or fireworks
  • No knives of any kind
  • No tobacco, drugs or alcohol

Q: How much does it cost for a counselor to go to camp?
A: It's free.

Q: If my child is going to camp, can I be his/her counselor?
A: Yes if both parent and child want to.

Q: Do I have any breaks during the day?
A: No.

Q: Can I drive myself to camp?
A: Yes, as long as there are enough counselors on the bus.

Q: Are campers bunked by age?
A: We try to bunk kids by relationship. Girls with girls. Boys with boys.

Q: What is the counselor to camper ratio?
A: One counselor to five or six kids.

Q: Are campers supervised at all times?
A: Yes. A counselor accompanies the campers 24 hours a day.

Q: How are campers disciplined?
A: First time: warning; Second time: miss activity; Third time: sent to the camp director. Continued disobedience may result in dismissal from camp.
